Boathouse Etiquette

Club Members MUST:

  • Fill in the logbook upon entering and exiting the boathouse, even if not taking out a shell.
  • Refrain from smoking within or around the boathouse.
Boat Handling

Club Members MUST:

  • Fill in the logbook prior to launching a shell and after returning a shell.
  • Immediately report damages on the damage log.
  • Request assistance from another club member prior to removing or replacing a club shell from its rack.
    • For RACING shells: if no member is available for assistance, use extreme caution or refrain from using the shell.
    • For RECREATIONAL shells: under NO circumstances handle independently by one person.
  • Use only personal or club shells/oars.
  • Refrain from applying lubricants and making adjustments to the rigging of a club shell or any other club equipment including oars without permission from the Boat House Captain.
  • Wash all shells/oars after each use.
Rowing

Club Members MUST:

  • Obtain testing from a Qualifying Member prior to advancing from a recreational to a racing shell.
  • Familiarize themselves with club’s published rowing traffic pattern and surrounding waters prior to launching a shell.
  • Adhere to published rowing traffic patterns at all times except under emergency situations.
  • Take responsibility for any damage to club equipment during use and return shells to the original condition prior to use.
